So looked out as I walked downstairs this morning and there were 9, yes 9 rabbits sat on the lawn!

They are digging up everywhere, loads of them.

Any ides how to control them or err, eradicate them?

The thought had crossed my mind, might wake the kids though.

And I'm not sure I could do it to be honest.

Not really practical given the size.

I was hoping for some kind of deterrant that worked and made them naff off into the fields.

No cigar for me then. Are they really small rabbits? Or is the garden too big to start bunny proofing it now?

not practical full stop. FIL has had proper rabbit fencing installed properly (dug in 2ft into the ground, curled back on itself and run horizontal for a bit) all the way round his garden - they've still found a way in.

It's 1.7 acres, mix of hedges embedded in shrubberies, it'd be nigh on impossible to get it set up.

You can get fire crackers, or something similar on a timer. The farmer next door to me uses them.

Do you mean the gas powered bird scarers or something different?

Again, might keep the kids awake of an evening!

Yeah they "pop' every now and again, doesn't really bother us.

Just googled firecrackers and it apparently is linked to Marijuana, some way of getting high from it! Brought me to my next idea... Plant some cannabis and get them stoned, then they will be too stoned to dig.

Post on http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/ or similar for someone local to have a go at your problem.

If noise is an issue insist they use a pre-charge air-rifle. I'd have a go myself but your probably a little bit far away for dawn shoots!

Alternatively you could try snaring them, but that might not go down too well with kids/wife especially if you get the family pet by mistake. They do live traps too but your then going to have a disposal issue.

Just looked at your profile, I know a guy who lives near Newark who shoots rabbits as it happens.

.22 air rifle with silencer and scope. Pick them off one by one... Needs a head shot to kill but you will thin them out and the others will be too scared to come out in the open.
