In France at gf parents house.the parasol and base have blown in the lovely 20 grand pool, making a 2 inch rip. What should we do next? Is it completely fecked? Can it be patched.

I would think it could be patched. Most rubber (I'm assuming it's rubber lined) can be bonded together. Might be a specialist job though....Time to contact the pool liner manufacturer.

Pool linings can usually be patched fairly easily, you can buy patches that will stick under water, the only problem is staying down there long enough to make it stick!

Last time I helped do this I had to stand on my mate to keep him submerged while he worked under water breathing from a compressed air line!

PS your a bastid for having use of a pool while I'm at my 30 degree desk

Cheers to the guys who offered help. Just got back. We were in the middle of the country ( about a hour away from Limoges typing on a tiny blackberry) and trying to find anything anytime is hard enough. Let alone a pool specialist. Also my french is petite pu at the best of time and the gf is good but not when it come to pool technicalities.

In the end turn out it can be disastrous if water got under the lining as the pool was a sealed concrete bowl, the water would have gone moldy later and caused ugly blisters. Luckily the bloke who built it was down the road and he popped round the next day to have a look and brought some of the original lining round. we drained it 2 3rds empty ( 2hrs with two pumps ) and put the patch on it properly.

Took 3 days to fill back up with two hoses ( different mains pressure ) and the temp dropped from the lovely 27deg to a chilly 20deg once finished, bugger.

Any way thanks again, it helped us calm down as we were running around like panic stricken blue arsed flies.
