Buying Block Paving
Discussion
Anyone know where the best place is to go to get cheap block paving? (not sure if I was slabs, blocks or natural stone yet)
I am located in Hampshire.
I have been to one builders merchants. They gave me a catalogue and I had a loo kat some products. The catalogue is just a generic brand with no prices so i assume each shop will set their own.
2 other questions
1) Is it possible for me to get out of paying VAT? like pretending i am a company or something? Coudl i get a builder to buy it for me?
2) does buff natural stone get slippery when its wet?

Ring round when you've decided what type of paving you'd like to use. As you've not decided yet, that's why they gave you the catalogue, to show you what's available. As you guessed, they don't include a price list (we don't either, although we will give you a guide price per metre if you ask), as the price will almost certainly depend on how much you're buying, where to, and how much you have delivered at any one time.I am located in Hampshire.

If you can avoid paying VAT, H.M.R&C will be round to find out how you've managed it. Companies have to pay VAT too, you know! Your builder could buy it, or you can, it's up to you.
Natural stone does not get especially slippery when wet, you walk along Yorkstone paved areas all the time but don't give them a second thought. Obviously they get slippery in icy conditions, but so does anything else. Clay paving does have a tendency to attract mosses and other slippery stuff, especially when near hedges/trees/shrubs, etc, but treatment once a year with weedkiller will stop most of that.

I have bought loads of paving from Marshalls on ebay - they can be a lot cheaper as they are 'end of line' pallets.
Depends on how cheap !!
See http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Marshalls-Driveline-50mm-Bri...
£1000 for 100m sq is not bad.
ETA Price includes delivery - so long as you dont live in middle of nowhere.

I think I will go for the indian sandstone - though i cannot be bothered trekking to all these buidlers merchants as they all c lsoe at 5 and it is hard to get to them.
Make sure you look at examples before you buy, DO NOT BUY FROM A PHOTOGRAPH OR WEBSITE PICTURE.I think I will go for the indian sandstone - though i cannot be bothered trekking to all these buidlers merchants as they all c lsoe at 5 and it is hard to get to them.
There are many different grades, colours, materials. Some are ethically sourced, some not. You pays your money.......
