Two years ago my wife and I brought our first house together, we knew it needed some work but not a huge amount.

Anyway today the carpet fitters arrived to fit the new carpet.

Before (pics taken by the Estate Agent):

As of today:

Only the porch floor to sort and some pipes to box in now! Oh yeah and a bit of touching up of paint work.

Need a break first though.

I'd love to be finished, most of the hard work done though

Two years. Crikey. How much did you save on a modernised version?

Not planning on moving for a long time!

Yeah we had most bits finished a while ago but were having to save a bit of money for the carpet.... £400 well spent I have to say

In that time i've also sorted the kitchen and got married.

We've had to bits as time and money allow. Most of downstairs has been replastered, new electrics (fusebox, spotlights etc).

I've also run speakers into the kitchen ceiling which are run off the amp in the lounge.

Apart from the plastering and the electrics i've done all the work myself at weekends/holidays.

congratulations, it must be some relief.

bought mine in november 2006. thought i'd be in and out inside of 6mths but it then turned into the moneypit. done an absolute ton of work [hadn't been lived in for years and was divided into flats] but am on the home stretch now - only] a chimney to repair, 3 flights of stairs to re-balustre, and lay flooring throughout. i look forward to the carpet fitters leaving and cracking some well deserved beers.

What's 'nathan' style furniture?

Edited to add, do you mean the G-Plan cupboard? It was my Grandma's who died back in 1995... Bit of a family heirloom (so to speak).

Sorry to hear about your Grandma, but heirlooms like that need preserving in attics, safe from being seen. hehe

Good work...and a much better place than the original pictures....

I remember our first flat...we gutted it and did everything to it to the extent that for about 3 years I was totally DIY'ed out....

Been in current house for 5 years and only now getting around to the last room..then I guess it all starts again...hehe

Anyway..great job..now sit back open a beer and enjoy
