I have got a few chillis, peppers and herbs on the go. My courgettes didn't come up at all which I am quite puzzled at. So I am after some ideas for planting from seed flowers, veg, herbs etc that will come up over summer/autumn.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Not too late for most things to be honest, especially if we get a warm september. Just plant smaller quantities.

We've just planted some pumpkins, might make a few squiddles round the village doors in October.

This isn't really a list of stuff you can plant, just what I have. The seed packets I have to put in at the moment are:

Gardenia Jasminoides
Tree Ferns
Lithops (pebble plants)
Primula Auricula
Ornamental Cabbage
Mixed Lettuce

There's a great herb specialist just round the corner (300m) from me with a good variety of plants.

This weekend I have put in spinach, chard, carrots, beets, pees, beans, tomatoes, chilis, salad leaves and Im having a go at growing some rock samphire from cuttings on top of a dry stone wall (cornish hedge) to see if it will grow.

I think most things will grow if we have a descent summer.

Also Im planting a fruit hedge dont think I'll get much fruit this year but hopefully next year they will come good!

Spinach is great value, so is rocket, lettuce etc. a few sprinkles of seeds in a m2 of earth will keep you in salad for a couple of months.

We sowed french beans yesterday which ought to be producing beans later in the summer.

Re- courgettes, I'm a bit worried as all 5 plants grew from seed so I'll send you some over when ours go into production overdrive. have also got 3 butternut squash on the go.

First potatoes are ready to eat now.
