For many years I happily had just one quilt (duvet if you like) and it seemed to work perfectly in all seasons - cool in summer and warm in winter. However, for the last year or two I always seem to be too hot or too cold, either because my hypothalamus has broken or because the quilt is well knackered and the feathers constantly end up at the bottom and sides.

So I think I need a new one. I prefer feathers/down to bouncy hot polyester. What's the practical difference between feathers and down, and goose or duck? Cab I expect one quilt to suit all year round or do I need two, or one of those triple clip-together things?

That's a massive difference - surely when it's a bit too cold for 4.5 then it's going to be far too hot for a 13.5?
