The garden shed chez Dibble is on its way out. I'm after building a new shed, which will take all the current crap, plus my motorbike and gear.

Is it worth bothering with a plan, or should I just start skip ratting and collecting wood, and build it?

Current sehd is a crappy B&Q £99 one, about 6' x 4'. I'm thinking the new one would need to be about 8'x 10' or so. Any thoughts? I don't want to buy a shed, I want to build it, even if it costs a bit more that way.

Do a google for shedheads, or something like that. There is a huge UK website all about sheds.

Firstly, actually measure the motorbike as they take up a surprising amount of space.
I'd put in big double doors to make getting it in and out much easier, and fit some sort of ground anchor too.

When mrs W and I had a loft conversion in 2007 I reused all the old roof timbers and slates on a 11' x 6' "log store". It was a great excuse to buy a cement mixer and gave me several weeks of part time fun. All I had to buy were the 4x4 uprights and cladding. Mind you the bags of sand and cement for the base were bloody heavy and I did pick up another speeding ticket going back and too to B&Q biggrin

We've just ordered this mini-barn

It turns up tomorrow and we hope it will swallow the 5 bikes and other crap from the garage before we convert it.
