We've just built a deck over the weekend at my house(there's a little bit of work to do to finish it off), it's about 65m2 in total. 3 mates came over, on the proviso I provided the drinks and BBQs and this took us 2 days. The timber and fixings cost just under £1700. Very satisfying!!!

Wow, that was quick, I am impressed, mine took a weekEdited by jon.b on Tuesday 26th May 14:37
We went for a treated softwood deck. Here's a photo of it nearly finished, rain had stopped play!! We had an old patio and a single garage base to build on, just on the near face where we sunk some posts.
Joists were at 400 centres all 6x2s on hangers.
Deck is screwed in and is the time consuming bit.
All the timber came from Mid Sussex Timber.

So long as everything is square and the frame has the correct number of crossmembers and noggins, then laying the decking planks shouldn't be too much of a problem if using softwood. Hardwood is a bit more tricky.
Yes agree!Make sure there is somewhere for the water to run...
