On Saturday my wife planted out the runner bean plants at our allottment that she has grown from seed. They were fine yesterday morning when we were up there, but this evening when I went up there I found the leaves had gone white and they were looking very ill indeed.

I have my suspicions as to what has caused it but does anyone have any ideas?

The fox must of been busy peeing as seems to have affected the whole row! In reality I doubt it is fox pee as the allottments are in the middle of a field, and surronded by a deer and rabbit fence, so OI guess that would keep the foxs out too.

How tall are the plants, are they tall enough to have upper and lower leaves.

The only thing I can think is it could be transplant shock. HAs it been sunny with you today, if it was it could be sunburn.

Could be sunburn and transplant shock I suppose. I was wondering if it was anything to do with the amount of growmore my wife used! However I think it has happened too quickly to be that.

They were about 6 inches tall with large lower leave, small upper one.

If it is sunburn or transplant shock will they recover?

I think you will just have to leave them and take a look at them in a week.

Make sure they still get plenty of water but not too much.
