Ants in my compost?

There is an ants nest in my compost bin. Is this a problem as they seem to be doing a reasonably good job of breaking down the compost.

Is it a good idea to put down ant powder or can this contaminate the compost?

Not a problem particularly, unless they are biting or getting in the house.

A bucket of water every few days will persuade them to move on. Or ant powder wouldn't really damage your compost.
