Afternoon,

I`ve finally folded to the nagging and have been told to fix the dripping tap on our bath.

Now, I`ve had a quick look underneath the taps and there`s no shut-off valve for the taps. We have a combination boiler. I`ll need to turn off the water supply to the house.

Do I need to do anything to the boiler prior to starting work or is it just a case of shutting off the water and then running the tap until the system is dry?

Many thanks in advance for your wise words!

Combies are mains water only, so just turn off the mains water, there will not be any draining down required.

JUst switch it off on the front panel, turn off your main stopcock and drain your taps. Simples!

But I`ll have to get rid of the water in the tap before I dismantle it though wont I? When I turn on the tap, will it drain the entire combi boiler?

Sorry for my simpleton knowledge!

Turn on your downstairs hot tap if you are worried, to drain excess water from system, and then open bath tap, water should then clear system.

There will probably be a little water from the tap, but not a lot though. Just turn on the tap, wait for the water to stop and away you go.

Well,

It`s all done. Apart from sourcing the correct washers (Tantofex as opposed to standard tap washers) it all went well.

Many thanks for the help!

I`ll just have to wait for her to find me another job now......
