We are currently in the final stages of having our new house totally renovated after a burst pipe in the loft over the winter time so i have a blank canvas to work with in my rooms. I work from home alot and have decided to look for some home office furniture.

Can anyone recomend anywhere apart from the usual b&q, argos, tescos etc. I dont want the room to look like a office but more cleaner with fresher looking equipment. Hard to describe actually. I saw in tescos direct that they offer some glass desks which i like the look of but they are too small for my needs as i run 3x monitors, 2x 22" Dell Screens and 1x 27" Dell screen. I will also have a Apple imac to add to that shortly.

For example.

I would be interested in anyone have any photos of their home office's and as to what styles you have gone for. Im just trying to use this chance to do something different.

Dwell have some decent designer furniture, and prices are pretty good too.
Have a look at their website.

People go for glass because is dissapears. Smaller houses and flats mean less space so poeple are using glass tables and chairs that you can see through.

Depends what you want, but you could always ask a local chippy to build something for you.

I know Ikea come in for a lot of stick, but you can get some good ideas from their sets in store, then design your own system.

Other option is to wall mount the screens to make desktop space less of an issue? I've just done this at home and the difference is significant.

I wouldn't get glass, as it seems to attract dust. We have a glass tv stand and it needs to be dusted everyday otherwise it looks filthy.

I'd second that. Their office furniture is pretty good really and we've just kitted our home office out with it ....

An optical mouse wont work on a glass desk. I had to build 5 glass desks before we realised. I then had to take them apart and back to the shop to get a refund.

Nightmare if children are invovled I would've thought, and also a PITA to keep clean with the regular 'PH coffee meets keyboard threads'.

I've used Ikea stuff (book cases/tables/cabinets) for years now, all of it has been through many moves and at the end of the day I've taken it apart and put it all back together and it still works. It doesn't look the best in terms of fashion but it works perfectly.

Do you have form over function issues?

IKEA's range of office furniture is much better constructed than a lot of their other stuff. I'm sat at a L shaped Galant desk. You can chose the curves, and adjust the length/end style easily. I nearly bought a glass topped desk and trestles but liked the huge amount of space this desk provides.

Clear plastic sheet underneath to roll your chair around on is also worth having.

Dwell kit looks nice but the quality ranges from OK to awful IMO.
