Looking at some fo the 1/2 price ones due to needing to replace the crappy ikea ones, memoryfoam I have heard is kind of hot to lie on, so maybe the springs ones.

http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/B...

Anyone know anything as to why I shouldnt and are these reasonable?

We've had a Silentnight memory foam mattress for about six months now. It's not overly warm, an oft quoted problem with them. It's really comfortable and far better than the much more expensive mattress (Sealy) it replaced.

The only downside is that if you're slumming in your pit of a morning and she is up and about, if she drops anything on the bed (hairbrush, hairdryer, tongs, whatever) you feel it through the springing. It boings. I cannot think of a more appropriate expression than it boings. If you're dozing and your partner moves you notice it. There's no roll together (as advertised!!), but you are aware of the other half's movements, although this is not an issue when asleep.

Would I buy another? Yes. I would, and I have a lower back problem that the mattress has helped.

HTH.

Oh, and you can get them cheaper than the laminated book. Try Costco, if you can get membership. We paid about £250.

sounds good... the mattresses are to replace the dodgy ones from ikea and they have nothing but trouble... i thought picking them up with a 25 year gaurantee would be good but in the small print they say that the human shaped divet is normal and is wear and tear even though i turn it every few weeks and the fkers aint budging on that opinion.

DONT EVER buy a mattress from ikea as the web says they are crap and im just another pissed off owner.

Smiler.

It's tough. I need a new mattress but what happens if I sleep on it and find I don't like it for some reason?

A good rule of thumb is buy the best you can. You will be sleeping on it for the next 8 years or so.

We have just bought a new one and went for a handmade 2000 spring with a top section of memory foam. It cost £700 but is very comfortable.

And yes, you really can tell the difference between a £250 mattress and a £600 mattress. Just test them by lying on them in the shop. It's the only way to do it really.

How do people find memory foams?
we have a Vitafoam one, cost should have been about £400, we had the cool cover put on, 2 years on, it's horrid.
Really hot in bed, two people shaped marks constantly in the mattress, I wake up aching most mornings now, the idea is good but now we have practised it, don't think we'll be getting another.

Ours is very different to that, you cannot feel anything from movement, even when the cat jumps up on the bed, I wouldn't know
Maybe that's what's wrong (see above)
hehe

We bought a memory foam topper for our king size expensive yet firm mattress. Was about £150 and adds an extra 3 ins to the thickness and is very comfortable.
