Plumbers - Whats Wrong With My Loo ?
Discussion
When flushing my loo the incoming water it sounds like its reverberating down the pipes.
If I turn the water off at the isolation valve there is no noise when I flush.
If I then turn it on, the cistern fills normally.
But flush with the water turn on leads to a tremendous reverberation.
So what do I need to change ?
Thanks

Hi,
Nieither...
When you flush, it immediately reverberates the cold water feed for anything from 2 to 4 seconds - its not water hammer (I get that on the cold tap if I turn my pressure up) its more of a loud resonant hum.
I've tried setting the isolation valve to slow the refill and it makes no difference (unless its turned completely off)

Mains.
Stuff it... the kids have flushed it 4 times this morning I'll just change the lot in the cistern but I really can't see how it is making the cold feed reverberate.
Just had the ballcock changed on my hot water tank and it now does this. You don't have a plastic pipe feeding it do you? The plumber told me that some ballcocks vibrate when they are just at the point of shutting off and this can cause plastic pipes to be noisy if they are not firmly secured.Stuff it... the kids have flushed it 4 times this morning I'll just change the lot in the cistern but I really can't see how it is making the cold feed reverberate.
Guess what mine has started doing now since the ballcock was replaced....
