A question for the PH collective
Summers here (almost) & it's time to get the barbie out. Its looking a bit sorry for itself after being outside all winter so thinking of buying a new one.
But which one?

The boys in light blue on Pprune forum rave about the Weber Weber
& diss gas as gay eek

So what do you barbie on?
or
What would you replace it with?

i got one of these:

very cheap cast iron job from Focus - £12 or so.

but then - i needed it to be portable, as we are always away camping when we BBQ. It is a nice design, the bowl shape, and the little vent on the ash collector means the coals can breath, and allows you to control the heat. for a little cheap thing, i've been impressed.

Weber 57cm for me too. Comparatively expensive to cheaper barbecues which look the same, but matchless IMHO. Mine has lived outside for four seasons now. It sits under a cover but each spring gets a light dusting down and is good as new. All parts are replaceable (although I haven't had to yet) and it gives you a range of different ways of cooking.

Also worth buying their Barbecue Starter Rapidfire Chimney.

Is that a barbecue, or an early steam engine? wink

We just got this one from B&Q

http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav.jsp?action=detai...

Seems good value for under £100 and it is well built. Gas bottle was £30 (refundable) + £15 to fill.

+1 for the Weber range - can't go wrong. Keeps your coal too when you put the lid on after cooking. Mine has been outside for 6yrs+ with no cover and no problems - give it a clean every Easter and off we go.

Another one here with a gas Outback BBQ. I know it's not what the purists recommend but it's so easy to light, cook on, turn off.

EFA - tis a bit of a beast ours hehe

I prefer the disposable/charcoal ones, I know where I am with those, but - tis his toy, what he wanted for his birthday... And as he has been using it most days since we had it (rain & shine), it gets me out of cooking, so I don't care that its a big oven biggrin

We use a Webber in our fire pit, they are good. After one of these next as I've been looking for a Korean type bbq for ages (has a reservoir of water which stops fat from burning). Can use indoors as well.

yes

Do what I did.

I ordered loads of brickes, readymix, a bbq kit, and a tool to help bricklaying and built two myself.

Ones a bit wonkey but its the manliest BBQing area of anyone I know.
