Block paved drive widening
Discussion
I currently have a single drive which is block paved, but am contemplating buying a 3rd car (Porsche, to sit in the garage and the other two to be left outside). This means widening the drive to accommodate 2 cars.
Roughly what cost would this be, and what would be the requirements of base layers etc. when getting people round to quote? I am aware that if it's not done properly, the thing will sink faster than a nuclear sub.
Cheers.

£60m2+ is the going rate for block paving nowadays?
I don't think that will include the digging and laying of the foundations, though.
There is a guy on here who does block paving - http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/profile.asp?mem...
If you're in the same are!

Like most things preparation is key. The blocks will need a good solid compacted foundation of Type 1 limestone - 6" or more depending on the ground. Then about 2" of limestone dust which the blocks will be laid on.
There is a guy on here who really knows his onions who I'm sure will be along shortly. If you give him your dimensions and tell him what blocks they are he will tell you what's fair and what's not.

Will you have to take account of the new rules about paving the front garden?

Thanks Gareth.
What an UTTER, UTTER LOAD OF bkS - having to get planning permission if the area is to be >5m2 unless it runs off to a border, or is permeable. You won't be able to fart next without applying for permission.
I don't think we live in a police state unlike many on here, but there is definitely too much govt. interference and this is just another example. Ridiculous !
