I used one of these when I had a blockage of washing powder in the pipe from the washing machine.
You can get them from Wickes as well, in the plumbing section.

i would find where the waste pipe travels down the side of your house attach a hosepipe to the end (wrap duck tape or similar around nozzle to ensure a snug fit)then turn on the hose and blast water up the pipe. make sure someone is on guard by the blocked sink to make sure it doesn't overflow. repeat this a few times and you will remove the blockage.
