I was wondering about floor screeds. smile

We have a couple of old quarry tiled floors laid directly on the dirt. I want to dig them up, lay a couple of inches of sub-base, insulate the floor with polystyrene, screed over and relay the tiles.

Any idea how thick the screed needs to be, bearing in mind that with insulation under it, it may feel a bit flexible!?

Thanks.

Think i'd add 100mm of concrete and go with 50mm of screed.

Thanks, I'll go for 75mm of screed then smile

Only going for 50mm insulation though. Does not have to comply with building regs.

Get your screed suppliers to put fibres in, Not a lot of cost, but will significantly increase the strength.
