Anyone ever even heard of them, let alone used them?

I clicked on a shiney advert and their idea, in principle, seems good. Central hub, connected to the interweb with SIM card as backup if interweb fails. Wireless door sensors, motion detectors etc. Individual keyfobs to arm/disarm the system, and the best bit - NO alarm box to annoy the rest of the street while they quietly ignore it!

Any alarms are notified by SMS or email to as many recipients as you wish.

£350 for the package and £9.99pcm subscription.

And, if they follow up what they're planning, they'll have remote control sockets and lights too.

Worth a punt?

I wonder if that's the kind that mess up car immobilisers for a 200-yard radius?

I don't see the point in a silent alarm. Okay, people do ignore them but you're relying on being able to respond by the time they have finished ransacking your house. At least a bell box acts as a visible deterrent and makes enough racket for them to think it's not worth hanging about. Personally I'd have a system that alerts me by phone and makes a racket*.

* Plus a couple of sound bombs in the house and a great big f**k-me-off halogen floodlight wired to a contactor in each corner of the garage!
