Removals Lorry - blocking the road? Can I do this?
Discussion
We will need a removals lorry to move out of the property we are in. We live in a narrow lane which has no parking restrictions.
What's the score with blocking the road for a couple of hours as there is no local parking space for the lorry. I thought if I just let the local neighbours know and anyone else using it will just have to turn around? The lane is used more as a cut through to the High Street and is used mainly by van delivery drivers and is not massively busy.
Anyone else experienced this? I moved in with a van so didn't have the problem then.

Assuming its a no through road with little traffic apart from neighbours, I'd inform them well in advance but be prepared to move lorry if you need to. I'd be somewhat pissed off if I was blocked from going to work !
If you moved in with a van, why can't you move out with a van?
Your removal guys will be used to this situation!

Ours is a dead end and we moved in by telling the neighbours date & times so they could work round it. We were slightly forceful by telling them the road would be blocked, but they were all happy as that was the first time anyone had actually written to tell them what was going on.
As far as a No Through Road is concered I'd 'borrow' some cones to mark the end, you'd be amazed what some orange plastic will do
