Buying A House That's Not For Sale????
Discussion
There are a couple of houses in the area (Rock Lane, Stoke Gifford, Bristol) that me & the good lady wife really fancy.
Would it be considered rude to pop a polite note through the door of these houses for the current owners asking that if they consider selling at any time in the future to please give us a ring?

Very good idea, agents do it, why shouldn't you.
Make sure you've done your homework regarding the current value of the house prior to them possibly calling you though. I'm betting there will be a bit of variance between your figure and their's from day 1, but you dont want to make a plum of yourself.

Hire this bloke - he uses hand grenades: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicholas_van_Hoogstra...
We did this when we were looking for a 'buy to let' in Manchester. We decided what road/houses we liked the look of and then put around 20 leaflets through doors, asking the owner to contact us if they were considering selling. Got two responses and bought on of the houses! Seller avoids agent fees and so everybody's happy. Would have no hesitation in doing so again - I imagine most people would be flattered and the worst they can say is 'no!'
