I have been living in a house and using the rent a room system for Inland Revenue purposes for the last 6 years. I did use a contract brought from the esteemed WHSmith so that was all above board. I was paying all the bills and charging this as part of the rent, just was easier in the circumstances.
BUT
Now I am renting the other room and living in a different house, still charging them for the bills, and paying that myself. What are the rules about the deposit? What are the other rules needed?
Basically I want to get everything in order, so that I can take advantage of the housing market and get another house at auction for renting out. So I just need to know what paperwork and assessments and things needed to provide the mortgage people with everything needed to get the next house.
All advice would be useful.
