If you sign on yes you'd then also qualify for council tax benefit, it's one of those that you only get if you are on benefits.

And it's worth signing on anyway even if you think you'd rather not, just to get your stamp paid whilst you're out of work.

Depends if yer other half earns over a certain amount.
(Not being funny McLovin....I didn't read the end of the thread about yer missus so I don't know how it turned out)

If yer single and on JSA then you get it paid for ya.

Think that was Mc Lovin, not Mclovin, confusing? much? hehe

Anyway, I agree if you are unemployed, I think you get the full council tax benefit.

Best of a bad situation I suppose, but it'll help. thumbup

i've been putting aside roughly a thousand pound a month though...will i still be liable...i hate the thought that i have been prudent in protecting myself by keep money aside for a rainy day but i will still be liable for council tax as well as having such low rates of interest on my savings...

I think there is a situation where if you have X amount in your name then you don't get certain benefits. Still, now is the time to pay back your mate who lent you lots of cash..............

I think if you've been prudent enough to save over £16,000 then, essentially, they think you're rich and apart from the £60 weekly JSA payment, you'll get naff all help/benefits.
