Can anyone explain why we need to build so many new homes when there are hundreds of thousands empty accross the UK, along with many office blocks and other buildings that could be converted?

Can anyone explain why we need to build so many new homes when there are hundreds of thousands empty accross the UK, along with many office blocks and other buildings that could be converted?
Can anyone explain why we have to build anything, when there are 5million on the council waiting lists? Are these 5 million living in doorways...no!
So they have a home of sorts, why do we have to build and the GIVE them a new one?
In previous generations, families looked after their own. We now have scum families, with broken up parents, living spereately in 2 bed council properties, (well they need a spare room after all for when their "b
d" children visit), two teenage kids, both with illegitimate children who "need" their own place, and some help from the state bringling up the little cherubs, and as people last longer, great grandma living in her own council pace too.
It is about time we stopped rewarding people who do fxck all to better themselves, or work toward getting their own place, and a bit more support to people who actually contribute to society.
This Govt is deluded and will only reward the feckless who will vote for them in the next election.
By all means renovate council homes for council tenenats to live in if theya re empty, but if they are private palces, the Govt should fxck right off. It is nothing to do wiht them the owners paid the stamp duty when they bought the place, it is theirs and nothing to do with Gormless Clown.
Oh and if any of the 5 million on the waiting list dont like it, may I suggest they faxk off to Poland or somewhere else if they think they can do better. No one keeping you here apart from the Welfare State.

That's exactly the problem now. The scummers have "morphed" the system to their advantage and it's hardly worth working anymore.
BTW, in your scenario, were they unable or unwilling to house you and your parents together, having lost the house? If so, it does not bode well for the millions that will face repossession in the next few years...

Basically my parents lost the house due to re-possesion. i came home from work one day and my parents told me i needed to find somewhere to live as they were packing up and leaving to go and stay with my grandmother. But there was no room for me. They now rent privatly.BTW, in your scenario, were they unable or unwilling to house you and your parents together, having lost the house? Now THAT makes my urine change to a gaseous state. Why the flying f*ck does someone who's actually working and paying the taxes that keeps these c*nts in a job take second place to some professional breeder who's never seen a days' work as long as they've lived?
I think the root cause of most of our problems stem from encouraging workshy scum to reproduce. Who's up for inventing a strain of myxamatosis that targets chavs?

I rent two houses to the local council on 5 year leases. Yesterday we had to do a visit with them, First house had been re carpeted and decorated as the last tenant was a dirty b
h, she has been rehoused elsewhere, why? A new family is moving in who are illegal immigrants who have apealled and been allowed to stay. they are getting a grant for all the furniture etc as they have none.
Second house well kept with a single none working mum, she has a gym membership full sky package about 100 plus DVD's. She has never worked but has a lovely home now.
On one hand I get my money, on the other it appears that we are shelling out for some who take the piss

I think you've got the right idea though, claw it back in any way you can!

DSS rentals are a pretty good way of doing just that.
What complete crap that woman is spouting.
The government have promised funding for affordable housing for years, happy in the knowledge that the planning process and various hoops that housing associations have to jump through will make it nigh impossible to spend all that promised money.
And she says the recession means houses aren't being built? The houses are generally built expressly for them so if they don't start the process then nothing will happen. There are certainly no shortage of contractors waiting to build them - at better prices than they'd have got previously!

Who do you need to contact to do this.Is there a minimum term? I'm currently extending/renovating my house, and living in a shared house with all bills included while the builders get on with it. I'd be better off financially letting mine out to cover the mortgage, and staying here for a couple of years, but I worried about scummy tennants etc. If the DSS/Council take responsibility, that could work.

Our two have been out for 5 years and we have just resigned for another 5. You get less rent than going private but you have no repairs and no empty periods.
