... you have no receiving equipment apart from a Sky box and your TV is a plasma display screen linked to the Sky box?

No beacuse you don't have a dish it would seem so can't receive Sky wink

Assuming you have a Sky Box and a dish, then yes. You need a licence if you're watching or recording TV as it is broadcast. If you're only watching one of the many online on-demand services (iPlayer for example) you don't need a licence.

Has Sky stopped broadcasting BBC channels then?

Of course you need a licence, anything with a tuner does and that includes your Sky box.

Well infact I can see a problem here as digital and sky services are delayed by what 4-5 seconds to normal analogue signals, so you are actually watching it after the time of broadcast so i would say no you dont need a license.

you have equipment capable of receiving TV, therefore you need a license.

even if you didnt have the sky box, you'd still need a license for the TV even if it wasnt plugged in

nono

You only need a licence if you watch tv, if you own one but don't watch it then you are not committing an offence.

Yes. Domestic plasma screens have TV tuners in them and are therefore also receivers. However you could get a 'business' one which is purely a screen, and just plays whatever you plug into it.

Shame on you Plotters!

It's a TV licence, not a BBC licence, even if you only watch commercial TV you still need a licence.

You only need a licence if you use your TV to watch or record live transmission, owning equipment isn't enough to require a licence.

How many times can I use the word licence in this post?

If it wasn't plugged it and you never did so you wouldn't need a TV licence.

You're right to because its not true.

You don't need a licence to own a television, just use it.

well, a TV is capable of receiving TV signals - all TV's have tuners in them.

So, having a TV means you need a license - otherwise whats to stop you unplugging it when TV licensing knocks on your door?

"oh no TV detector man, I have a TV, but its unplugged - look... i dont use it"...
