DIY disc sander question
Discussion
I have a 12" disc sander made by Hanning of Germany. The disc is aluminium and originally came with self-adhesive abrasive discs. However, those are all now used up, and to be frank they were a PITA as they would gradually come unstuck, especially at the edge. Since then I've been using Velcro-backed discs and using impact adhesive to make sure they stuck flat.
As you can imagine, changing abrasive disks is then a MAJOR operation and so I'm trying to find a Velcro backing sheet to stick to the disc, so I can then use Velcro-backed discs in future. Does anyone know where I can buy a Velcro sheet 12" round or square? Google is not being immediately helpful.

You can get very high adhesive rolls of velcro around 20mm wide. Maybe stick across next to each other cutting off excess into a circle shape?

Sure I've got a roll of 50mm wide self-adhesive at work, is it the hook or the loop that goes onto the aluminium disc? About 6ft would do the job, yours if you want it.
Wowee! Thanks Tony, I think I'll take you up on your kind offer PM heading your way.Is there anything PH doesn't know or can't fix I wonder???

I have the Record version disc sander and it uses 12" self adhesive discs. I buy discs 50 at a time for about 70p each from an engineers merchant. Never had problems.
So the discs stick perfectly all over and then you just pull them off when worn out? Mine never did that. Gassing Station | Homes, Gardens and DIY | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
