I'm hoping that the combined expertise of the PH masses will be able to help me...

I'm looking at buying house in the coming year, and have seen some "in need of modernisation" which, seeing as I am willing to do some work, could provide a way of avoiding negative equity. These houses tend to need central heating installing - what kind of figure should I budget for this? Typically these are 2 maybe 3 bedroom houses, living space of 80-100 square metres

I'm in the Netherlands, and I realise that rates may vary, but how many hours work is this, or has anyone had this done??

You can pretty much spend that on getting a boiler put in never mind a whole system!

First thing to figure out will be what fuel is available. Is there mains gas available or do you need to look at oil/electric/solid fuel?

In the UK I'd expect £5-£7K if you are paying someone else to do the job to a good standard (i.e good quality kit & pipes run under the floors where possible etc)

No idea what the situation is in Holland but maybe there are grants available to help?

If you went down a traditional gas fired route I'd be inclined to stick in a wood burning stove or two to gove yourself some options in case the Russians & the Ukranians fall out again.
