Some friends of mine have just moved into a bungalow with an existing single garage.

They want a new one. Approx size required is 20' x 16'.
The footings and base will already be in situ so just need the actual garage structure and door(s).

Anyone on here in "the trade" and care to give me a rough idea of price please?
Or anyone know of any decent companies that could supply/build the above?

Feel free to post pictures of garages to inspire me. wink

They are in Cheshire very close to Manchester Airport for quoting purposes. smile
Over to you!

I'd guess around five grand for a double garage, three for a single. Could be more or less depending on whether you go for timber or brick/block. It's a standard job, all stuff from your local builders merchant - if you're handy with tools you could probably do the job yourself and save a fair chunk.

Beware though that if you demolish an existing garage and rebuild it, you will quite probably still need planning permission, even if the new one is identical. Get a couple of local builders in to quote and they should be able to let you know what documents you need to do for your local authority.

Trying to get my 1 1/2 car one made into a 2 1/2 car (7x5m). All quotes have come in at around the £24k mark frown

Having said that it's partially attached, piled, brick built with a roof hipped on all 4 sides, but FFS £24K.... That doesn't even include doors or a decent floor.
