yes, i suppose the daily chance of losing a finger or 2 would qualify as interesting.

They will annoy you.

You buy expensive tank plants, they bite through the stems just to mess with you.
Unless you have a nice sized tank, they will constantly fight and take small bits of fin and the occasional eye off the smaller one.
They are messy eaters, so you need a really nice filter.
Oh and don't get too deep a tank, you don't want to have your arm in the tank past your elbow to clean, when they get a decent size.

Having said that, they are fun to watch - no matter what people tell you, they don't need live food and they are pretty easy to look after.

The main consideration is tank size VS how many fish.

They are not the worst for that, I had Malawi Ciclids, I started with 6 and ended up with 1 - I used to get furious with those little bds constantly fighting.

Piranha are chilled out most of the time and they are big enough to survive being nibbled on by the other piranhas.

I'm sure a bengal tiger high on PCP would make for an 'interesting' pet or maybe a pack of rabid wolves. I know, scatter a few hornet nests around the house and keep a jar of redbacks in the fridge! That'd qualify as 'interesting'!

well, its not as if they are going to jump out of the tank and savage you.

you have more chance of being scratched by your pet cat, than bitten by your pet piranha - and the cat scratch is going to hurt more. (assuming you get red bellied piranhas)

They'll evolve rapidly once they see the tasty treats asleep on the armchair. Once they've grown legs and a way to breathe, see how cocky you feel then.

Don't say I didn't warn you.

Not a great fish to be honest, don't swim around too much, spook quite easily and as mentioned, will generally pick at each other - ie, eyes and so on. There's plenty of more interesting fish you can keep than Piranah.
