I'm having a hoover crisis -its stopped sucking which is a bit of a disadvantage. I've emptied it, poked it a bit and removed all filters. Still wont work

I have laminate in all rooms except the 2 bedrooms and a rabbit that moults a huge amount.

Which hoover would you recommend? I'm also above a busy road and seem to permanently have a huge amount of dust about the place.

Don't want to spend too much (under £150 preferably), last longer than 2 years, and also clean the place, not just move the dust around. It also needs to be able to handle very fine fluffy pet hair.

Oh, and I'd like to be able to get it before 6pm tonight (John Lewis closes then. I'm open to other retailers so long as I can get the beast today or tomorrow morning absolute latest, I can't deal with the dust anymore!)

Thanks biggrin

We have the Miele Cat and Dog. Excellent vac that comes with attachments designed to pick up pet fur. Had it for 5 years with no trouble.

Oh, you have a house rabbit too! I would suggest a dyson, I have hard wood floors and it works fabulously.

Argos (it was online, don't hurt me!) has the little cat and dog cylinder at £199. Is this about right?

The Dyson classic at JL is £149. http://www.johnlewis.com/230215513/Product.aspx

I generally sweep the hard floors, get the most fur I can up (and my god at the moment there is a lot of fur - have filled a carrier bag in a week) then hoover.

I'm tempted by the dyson as there is a 5 year guarantee with it and JL is 2mins down the road...

Deffo, best hoover I've ever had. Could suck a golf ball through a garden hose.

I've had three Dysons on the trot. They seem to have a life of about 2 years before they pack up.
Just replaced the last one with a Henry. Seems a nice piece of kit and a lot more simple to maintain than a Dyson.

£200 doesn't seem a bad price, I think we paid more than that for ours.

Problem with the Animal, Sebo and Miele is they are all upwards of £250-£300. frown

I don't have that much to spend on one. Not this year at least.

ETA: just checked the price of the Animal. yikes

I got me something like this (but in blue).

Works great. It even sucks the carpet up and drags it across the room. Should be ideal on laminate...

If you've got hard floors virtually throughout the house then the selection of the vacuum doesn't matter all that much IMHO.

We happen to have a Miele hepa version, but by far the most useful tool is the Leifheit Hausrein Floor Wiper system - you just walk around with it and it brushes all the hair and dust up ready to be sucked into the vacuum. You can mop with the same system, too.

John Lewis and others stock them.

Henry, he's better than any dyson (and you can talk to him)
