I am after some ideas with trying to sort out my work van. It’s a Peugeot Partner. It has some cheap wooden racking that looks like someone made it in DT with their teeth.

But I’m just trying to organise the van into boxes or drawers. I’ve got Hikoki Power Tools and whilst the tools are good the boxes are from the same manufacturer as Makita. Ideally I need to store long drill bits, odd tools that I don’t use but do need. Something for plugs, screws etc.

I would go with better racking made to suit your preferred brand of portable tool case/chest etc, so you can remove everything when not actively out on a job.

Makita, Dewalt, erbauer, trend, federal, Bosch Milwaukee, all have storage systems for tool Storage/fixings.

Milwaukee packout has options for quick release mounting plates, sliding racking or shelves, the boxes are extemely strong with a huge variety of boxes & organisers but aren t the cheapest option. Deals can be had to get it occasionally, check its or power tool mate

PVC pipe + screw endcaps fixed/clipped in to the shelving for long bits.

For tools/powertools a packout or equivalent box is great, but there s also van vaults, lifting lid & they also do sliding versions for better tool security.

Other option is timber racking the van again

ETA original makita boxes aren’t a great plastic for the box surviving an impact , no idea how the new stuff stands up

Tstak is decent enough, one warning, there are two kinds of Dewalt clear topped cases for screws etc - the one that's Tstak, and another that's a rebrand of (I think) Stanley. The latter is not compatible with Tstak. I have no idea why it even exists in their product line.

The only issue I’ve seen is the clips are not that great and can be broken.

This one looks new:

The Dewalt tough systems 2 stack is on offer at Screwfix just now. The boxes are solid. Mines have survived 4 years of being daily thrown in and out the van. There are also companies that will do custom racking for different vans but it’s not cheap.

I’ve seen that. I’ve heard mixed reviews on the latches. Packout is okay but expensive. Toughbuilt looks a little smarter. It’s just the cost.

I have had no problem with the latches on mine with 4 years of constant use. You get a surprising amount in each box. I have 2 of the 2nd largest boxes. 1 box has
2 Recips, 4 1/2 grinder and multi tool.
The other has an SDS drill, 2 combis and 2 impact drivers

Screwfix also have the medium T stax box on sale for £18.99 just now but the metal catches are not as solid as the tough systems.

That’s a nice set up. I’m going to go to B&Q and have a look at the storage units.

I believe the Makita style boxes are made by a company called tanos. I looked it up years ago when I had everything in the same style boxes, they sell van racking but it gets silly expensive very quickly
