Hello All,

I have a Creda E530E, Built In Electric Fan Oven. Was in the kitchen of a house I’ve just bought and the main oven doesn’t work, top works fine.

I stripped it and found that the element was visibly damaged, I tested it for continuity regardless, and as expected found none.

Select either fan oven or induction heating on the first dial, then a temperature on the second and the cooling fan runs, and the light comes on but the oven fan doesn’t run and it doesn’t heat up.

Before I roll out the parts cannon, does anyone have experience of what should I look at next, and how to test it. Thermostat? Control circuit board/components?

Perhaps a dumb point, but are you closing the door? They usually only work with the door closed. If you are, and the fan doesn’t spin then may be a door switch problem. Some need the time to be set too, and won’t work if the timer is in auto.

When did you buy the house, and were you told the oven wasn’t working? May be a futile effort but if is faulty you could bill the previous owner for stuff like this.

Sorry, I meant to mention in my first post. Clock is set, timer is in manual mode, and yes I’m closing the door.

I was made aware after the offer acceptance so I challenged it through my solicitor and the seller agreed to a £150 discount on the purchase price.

Fair enough. What general condition is it in? Up to you, but might be worth putting the £150 towards a new one. One of my daughters had a similar old double oven in a house she bought (hence the questions I asked) and the fan heater element failed like clockwork every 12 mths, regardless of whether it was a cheap one or a “genuine” part.

ETA: Just looked back at the orders and daughter's oven was a Creda Europa SolarPlus.

It’s in pretty good condition and seems to be top of the range for its day. I did look at replacements but we’re moving the kitchen completely, to another floor in the house so I just hoped to quickly and cheaply repair the existing one as a stop gap.
