In a crazy moment I bought a job lot of finger plates such as the above, for fitting to doors to stop them getting marked by grubby hands , an old fashioned thing, they are all new and perfect, price I paid was scrap brass.

Mrs K87 says 'not in my house', apart from selling for scrap, can you think of any alternative uses?

If you want sheet brass as raw material, it's not cheap.

Perhaps you need to take up clockmaking or some other metalwork?

Or sell on ebay as offcuts?

Thanks for the ideas.

To make matters worse I have been offered something similar in brushed stainless steel again at scrap steel price with screws.

I am going to make a call to a door furniture wholesaler, I would have thought that there must be a market.

I fitted similar ten years ago, to discover that door movers left their sticky mitt prints below the handle....not above, where the bloody finger plates are!

I would simply resell them individually on eBay and make a profit.

Failing that turn them 90 degrees and call them nameplates. Or just sell them as brass sheet.

Surely some local 2 star B&B's need replacements.

Perhaps if he's go the right font he could make them into distinctive car number plates... nuts

Thats a good idea, and even my limited DIY skills could do a supply and fit job.

The only issue could be the plate being a smaller size than any existing plate, especially on a painted door.
