Hi

I recently had a leak in bathroom (snigger) which has been fixed but it’s ruined a strip of laminated chipboard type ‘stuff’ along the base the bath side panel.

Strip is on the left. Yellowish colour.

I need another bit. Pure white would probably be ok.

It measures 177 x 15 x 2 cm.

Any ideas where I could get something already cut to size?

I’m ste at diy so no chance of me trimming it neatly.

Thanks all.

Plenty of places who will cut panels to size on the internet, and send in the post.

Many of the big DIY stores like B&Q etc offer a (usually free) cutting service if you buy a sheet of material.

So go and see if they have a material you like and they can then slice it to your dimensions for you.

You’d probably get a white-coated MDF or other dense board of some sort.

As it sits on a bathroom floor and liable to get wet/damp, you don't want anything chipboard/MDF. Find a local joinery or timber place and get either a length of timber or a piece of ply cut to size and prime then paint it.

Or if you're matching high gloss white you can give it a sealing coat of whatever, sand it a bit to make it smooth, then wrap it in a decent thickness vinyl.

Cheap and fairly simple way of getting a more cosmetic surface than melamine or basic paint.

Or you could buy a piece of acrylic plastic to the exact size, on the internet. Eg.

But given the size you need, you could well find a local company that would do it which would be easier than getting Evri to deliver!

Get a length of 200 mm facia (UPVC) and cut it down.

Some kitchen plinth comes at 150mm. I would suggest if you want a straight fit, pick a length up and use the plastic edging strip.

It may be worth buying some exterior wood glue and covering all exposed timber. Then silicone along the strip.

This is the right answer.

Wood rots.

Buy this from Travis Perkins and take it, along with the dimensions of the old piece to your local timber merchants and ask if they will cut it to your desired size which should only cost a few quid to do.

Wrong, correct answer is to buy a bath panel that fits without a crap piece of fillet at the bottom, it looks awful and always will.

I’ve fitted hundreds over the years and never had to go to the timber rack to put a piece underneath it.
