Hi,

I have a new extension which has 70mm dot and dabbed insulated plasterboard. I need to attach two fairly heavy (900mm and 1000mm wide) kitchen wall cupboards.

What is the best fixing for this? I assumed Fischer Corefix but they say only for depths of a maximum of 45mm between the plasterboard and block wall behind.

I wondered if i could make my own longer Corefix by cutting down some tube and buying longer screws but thought there must be a product for this..

Any suggestions? Thank you!

Assuming no timber joists to fix to and masonry behind the insulated plasterboard, I would core out some of it and put some wooden packers into the cores fixed to the masonry.

Assuming the cupboards hang on two short metal hanging brackets, scrap them and buy some continuous rail.

This will allow you to use a lot more fastenings, something like these, nylon frame fixings. If possible fix a bearer for the bottom of the unit to sit on, taking some of the weight, if you can do so unobtrusively.
