Garden 'pergola/roof'
Discussion
Afternoon
I have been press ganged into creating an outdoor 'garden chillout area thing', which I have been instructed, should have a roof.
I am thinking of an area no more than 12 x 12 ft. what size posts should I sink into the ground, and roof-wise, I was thinking some plastic corrugated affair, clear or uncoated?
Anyone done something like this - any recommendations for the most cost-effective solution?

Depends very much how exposed to wind it is.
It may not be much more expensive to go for 125 or 150mm sq posts.
I would consider galv 'post shoes' on concrete pads, because our ground can be very wet and I'm tired of fence posts rotting.
12ft square is quite a lot of 'sail area'. 12ft is a big span which needs fairly substantial timber across. It's going to end taking your weight when you get up there to cut the plants back.
