Ok, so to be fair I've had a drink or two, so I'm not really sure how interesting this is as a topic, but here goes:

I've lived in the Bristol/Bath area for 40+ years. So I've been to most of the Screwfix stores in the area. Mostly they're very small. Which of course doesn't matter as I've normally done a click/collect. And the whole point of Screwfix is not to have a large retail space.

More annoyingly though, is that often there is very little parking - Longwell Green in particular is awful for it.

I acquired a new house yesterday, in Somerset. So today I popped into Screwfix Lysander Road, Yeovil. It was a frickin' delight!!!!

Tons of parking. A large store. No queues. Quick service. Helped me take stuff to the car (it was a big order).

Best Screwfix I've ever been to!!

I apppreciate this is massively subjective, but does anyone want to nominate their favourite Screwfix, and give reasons why?

Oh, and there is a second Screwfix in Yeovil at Pen Hill Trading Estate. Is that worth a try, or should I stick with Lysander Road? Any opinions welcome?

In my opinion the Warrington one is definitely a better store than yours because it’s far closer.

Yeovil is where they were founded & where HQ is isn't it? Might have something to do with it.

The Trafford Park one is even better wink

The Chorlton one is ok if you are visiting by bicycle.

The Lysander road one in Yeovil is my local so I go there quite a bit and I've never had cause for complaint,

there's also another on the other side of town which I've been to a few times when Lysander road didn't have stock and they did,

but to be fair I've been to quite a few (we have a house near Mansfield and there's quite a few around there all with decent parking ) and they've mostly all been an easy and positive experience.

The only problem I have with the Lysander road one is that when leaving, if I'm turning right out of Garrett road I can be sat waiting a good while for a gap in the traffic.

I nominate Wellington in Somerset for the following reasons:

1 - Tons of parking
2 - Less than a mile from the M5 so very easy to get to
3 - Toolstation next door
4 - Macdonalds opposite

Yeovil was indeed where Screwfix started, but I must admit I prefer Toolstation. Why? Here are my reasons:

1 - They seem to have more in stock rather than for next day collection
2 - Their "Hawksmoor" range of kit is pretty decent for the money
3 - I think they are slightly cheaper
4 - You get 5% off everything if you spend over £75 in the previous month. I don't think Screwfix do this.

I agree Turtle Shed, go there often in Wellington. Having both t'station and screwfix near is ace, too.

There’s often a tool station in the same park as Screwfix because I believe the founder of Screwfix sold out, then set up tool station in competition and handily knew where all the Screwfix were located!

More controversially, and in a way more comparably, which is better - The ‘Station or the ‘Fix.

I was team blue all the way, but I find now that team yellow have stuff in stock whereas team blue have a lot more stuff on next day than they used to. Also ‘Station trade account - 5% off on everything.

Team Yellow FTW

Our nearest is Stratford upon Avon

I tend to use Alcester, further but quicker more scenic route. Less traffic, easier parking, fewer queues. Stratford does have the advantage of a a Tool Station and some builders merchants close by. ,

They are all much better since I discovered they are not a dating agency.

And Salford only any good if heading in to Town.

I too find myself going to Toolstation more often than Screwfix these days. It tends to be cheaper and because I'm renovating a house and spending a fortune, I get the 5% off

I see there is a new one at Ashton Gate which must be like next door but one to a Toolstation. Considering there is Hengrove and Bedminster very close by, SW Bristol has more Screwfix's than Starbucks.

Shame Wickes closed down there.

Worst parking is Toolstation Whiteladies Rd.

I rather feel that it's not the case that the Screwfix has the better parking, but that Bath and Bristol in general are a bit of a pain for driving and parking.
So it could just be the move!

How many people have checked for an item in Screwfix and when its been out of stock gone next door and bought from Toolstation as they had stock or viseversa?

The parking for the 2 in Edinburgh Fort Kinnaird is good. They are across the road from a massive B&Q which is owned by the same company as Screwfix.

Another positive for my local Toolstation is a bigger customer area, so they have a good number of popular items on display. It's also lighter and brighter with a wider service desk. I certainly prefer it to Screwfix but if we only had Screwfix that wouldn't be a problem.
