eglu chicken run/coop renovation
Discussion
Morning folks
We are looking to get some chickens soon and I have secured a bargain Eglu run/coop set up from a colleague.
It's a bit tired though, the run is rusty in places and the eglu has faded badly. I'll wire brush and treat the rusty patches prior to painting.
The wife wants the run to be black. Any ideas on the best way of painting it? Assuming a spray gun albeit there will be a lot of wastage. Whilst I can clean/degrease it there's no way I can actually key all the bars effectively.
I'm planning to use bedec barn paint in black but if anyone can recommend a suitable primer to use beforehand that would be much appreciated!

As an aside, we have just acquired 4 chickens as a starter having never owned animals before.
We got them from the British Hen Welfare Trust, they rehouse commercial laying chickens at 18 months old which is when they would be otherwise destroyed. Ours were from a free range farm and it great condition.
They were really helpful with advice too, it feels like a great way to give them a lovely retirement. We are also getting 4 eggs a day which is actually a little too many!
