looking for recommendations please for a grass protection grid that can be laid on top of an existing lawn, is there a suitable plastic or rubber grid mesh that can be laid onto existing lawn?It seems like all the immediate products I've found are designed for filling with gravel, sand or growing new lawn.

I would like to lay as 2x tracks e.g each 5 metres x 0.5 metre tracks for occasional car parking.

Thanks

I fitted some plastic stuff that came on a roll, was about 2m wide x 10m IIRC, just laid it on top of the grass and held it down with some U pegs. The grass took a year to completely cover it. Worked really well, cars still drive on it 5 years later with no issues. You still get a bit of surface mud but wheels never get bogged down.

It was similar to these, the more heavy duty one. I'll try and find the details.

We have used mud control mats - expensive but easy to lay and take up and need less prep than others.
They are also heavy.
Their website is quite helpful.

Hire a turf cutter if you want to save your back and set the depth. Bulk bag or loose tip of 10mm topsoil add some seed and your away.

I posted a DIY product for occasional parking a few years back with links and photos. It'll be in my history if you care to check back.

Long term review....It'll stop the grass getting torn up with careful parking but won't stop the dips.
My Exige is ok at 1100kg. Wife's 'mini' at 1300kg less so but manageable. A modern SUV, no chance.

Looks to be the same as posted above although I purchased from a different retailer.

Found it, wow three years ago. time flies
