Decking - lowest maintenance treatment
Discussion
Hi there. Last summer I lay decking in a large area of our garden; now spring is here I'm thinking I should treat it (especially seeing the algae build up over the winter).
I've given it a good cleaning with a jet washer and read that I now need to give it a good scrubbing with a decking cleaner but in terms of treatment I could do with some advice.
If I use a stain is it correct that every couple of years I'll need to sand it down before retreating?
As mentioned, it's a fair old size and the thought of the time it would take using a hand sander on it makes me wince.
Thanks in advance.

I used this on my Siberian larch OwatrolAquadecks, you can re- coat on top of itself without sanding according to the blurb: sodding expensive though, not sure if it’s any better than the stuff you buy in the sheds tbh. Are they smooth or ribbed boards?

Looks interesting, does it add a colour to it or does the Teak just look a bit darker and the Honey is rather paler? I've got some boggo boards down and want something to protect them with.I've used this decking oil for last 10 years after trying various types of decking oils and potions

Buy it in 20L (£40) and lasts me 3 years applying two coats to the decking and one coat to the shed once a year in the spring
Our decking went down in 2008 so it's now coming up for 17 years old
