I'm going to be replacing my hozelock hose this year, I lost the inners of it in a house move so it coils up and it's a complete pita.

Does anyone use brands other than Hozelock?

I quite like this design this time https://www.screwfix.com/p/hozelock-2-in-1-reel-wi... Is it any good after a while or have they fallen to bits?

I'm using Karcher for power washing.

Gardena - much better quality than Hozelock IME. The 'premium multi-spray' gun is very good too.

I got fed up with ste hoses , got some of this and never looked back, had it years now and has never split and hardly ever kinks unless you really trap it .

£260 for a hose reel?
Seriously?

I inherited a plastic Hozelock reel, it is falling apart from UV damage.

Best thing is a tap near where you wash your motorbike, then you only need a few metres of hose and only one pair of fittings to leak.

Following with interest as I need to finish jet washing the paths at the top of the garden and even with two existing hoses joined together, I still can't reach it.

I've been looking at the Hydrosure hoses / reels as I use their leaky hose, irrigation pipe and sprayers. Those bits have been fine over several years of use and much cheaper than the Hozelock irrigation bits.

Mine was a few years ago, and I only had the 12mm internal size ( which is normal size) and had 50m. Think I paid about £75.

They sent me the 19mm by mistake and never came to collect it back , so I sold it on eBay for £50 .

It is good stuff and I would buy it again, as we use the hose a lot in the summer.

Also get some of the metal couplings too , those cheap plastic hose lock type are ste too.

I bought this, it’s mounted but don’t need to water anything yet hehe

20% extra off today, eBay code runs out tonight. I done a fair bit of research and Gardena were constantly recommended

I've got that Hoselock, but it's the 40m one... slight overkill but it was on offer at the time.

No problem at all with it, apart from the hose connection on the middle of the reel can become loose at times. A small blob of superglue on the threads stopped that.

I moved over to Gardena fittings as the quality on the hozelock stuff was terrible, hoses are probably very similar though.

I've got the 20+ year old version of that. The metal frame has now rotted through but it's still hanging on in there!

I bought this Gardena trolley and hose:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B076WT5XGD/ref...

And this Gardena hose:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00HPXV87Y/ref...

The hose that came with the trolley is used as an extension, and the better stuff I wound onto the trolley (30m fits easily enough, despite the stated capacity of the trolley).

Very pleased with it all, and whilst not the best you can buy, it's pretty damned good, especialy the SuperFlex hose.

I paid £124.00 all in on Amazon, which was what the bare trolly and 30m hose would have cost at mu local garden centre.

Agree the Gardena fittings and so forth are a different league to Hozelock.

For the hose itself, I thought I’d try one of these, and it’s actually excellent, doesn’t kink and expands about 3x its dry length.

I'm quite happy with Hozelock stuff.

I have a couple of these that must be over 20 years old. One was starting to leak and bits of the connectors were failing. I went on line and they sell a complete kit to refurbish it to good as new - OK the main casing is faded but everything else has been renewed for about £14.

The trigger mulitspray gun I have is the only one that has lasted. Anything else I bought has broken on being dropped or succumbed to frost damaging its internals.

Another thumbs up for the Gardena hose. Really flexible and comes off/on the reel beautifully, unlike my old Hoselock hose. As an aside, I've also had two Hoselock Multi Spray Pro spray guns, first one split due to freezing up (my fault) the second fell to bits after a year or so, utter crap! I now use a Lidl spray gun which cost me £3, which is getting on for two years old!

I’ve got a Tuffhoze which lasted 3 years till it started leaking at one of the connectors. I phoned up Hozelock as it’s got a 30 year guarantee.

They sent a new hose after I sent a picture with the connectors cut off. I just put standard connectors on the old hose and am still using it yet.

I think the reason it gave out was it’s left outside all year round. Quite pleased with it generally.

For the hose itself Fitt is really good.

Never kinks.

I’ve got a 7 year old one which lives outside and it’s still pliable in the cold.
