We've got Eterna T4 fluoresecent tube fittings under the kitchen cabinets and one started flickering badly. Diagnose the fitting rather than the tube.

Replacement fitting no longer available, but there's an Eterna LED replacement which looked similar: Daisy chain mains connections, rails clip into two small brackets - should be a straight swap, surely?

First surprise. They're not wired into the kitchen lights circuit - they're in the 32A cooker circuit. Fused spur? No chance...
This wasn't picked up on the recent EICR, but I assume it would still have been A Bad Idea 20 years ago when the ktichen was installed.

Moving on, I remove the old fitting. Second surprise, Eterna have changed the daisychain plugs, so you can't just replace one unit in the chain, and I've got to replace the full chain and wiring.

Luckily it's only a chain of two here, and I ordered a second fitting as a spare. Attempt to put the fittings in the clips: Final surprise - the fitting is a couple of mil wider, so need to replace the old clips too.

Also the LED units are about 50mm longer than the old ones. Luckily this wasn't an issue here.
