I'll soon be laying some flooring at my parents' house and the kitchen floor tiles are absolutely welded down. So much so the floor tiles I just removed were laid on top of the originals! Taking them out without damaging the concrete will be impossible so I've decided to lay new laminate over the top.

The laminate will run into several rooms. With the tiles in place I need to lose a tile thickness (6mm or so) in about 1.5mm of hallway to lay the laminate on top.

I'm aware that new products are appearing at a fantastic rate and I am 100% confident there's a product for precisely this use case. Anyone know what it is?

Thanks in advance.

Can’t you just build it up flush with 6mm ply? Or use a thick underlay and level it that way

Why wouldn’t you just use some self levelling compound?

Self leveler, might be worth doing the whole lot if you have the height at the doors.

Use 5mm fibre underlay boards for laminate flooring where the tiles aren’t and you should have a joint in the doorways which would make the 1mm difference imperceptible.

When you say lose 6mm does that mean you are 6mm proud or you have to level up 6mm?
