It's about half an inch at the widest bit, lets in light and cold, and lets out sound.

New door? Stick a strip of wood back on the bottom.

Or some sort of draught excluder brush strip.

I had a similar problem recently and fitted a drop down door sweep and it has worked very well. Similar to this:

A brush strip like this would work, more effective on carpet rather than wooden flooring.
