What is this called (shelf under fire)

Hi.

Probably simple question for some but is there an official name for the shelf / plank i have marked in the image?

Either way, what material would this be covered in? Want to do something similar and assume it is just a frame with ply or something and then covered but I could be wrong !

It will be veneered or wrapped MDF most likely. Assume that “fire” doesn’t actually generate heat.

It does but only from top, just a 2kw fan heater really so no impact on the 'shelf'
