Been researching Tado smart heating/TRV systems recently and am close to ordering the kit I will need for our house. The one issue we have is that three rooms have electric underfloor heating - 2 bathrooms (floor sensing only) and one garden room (air and floor sensing) and Tado don't officially support electric UFH systems.

That's unfortunate but not necessarily a deal-breaker though, but before I take the plunge I wondered if anyone here had experience of other systems like Tado that maybe do support electric UFH as well as hydronic? Or more generally, anyone aware of any alternatives to Tado that would be worth weighing up?

Drayton Wiser supports underfloor heating. Thread here https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Be aware that prices for the kit can vary wildly depending on who has an offer on at any given point. If you do decide to take the plunge, make sure you check prices from Amazon, Screwfix, Toolstation and Drayton’s online shop before buying. Personally I don’t have any experience of Wiser with UFH but I’m pleased with the way it manages my central heating, though it takes a while to get the hang of some of its quirks.

I put in a Tado system here. (Wet) UFH, multiple zones / rooms.

I had assumed the Tado just opened/closed a circuit, so as long as you have a contactor/relay (and don't expect the little Tado box to switch lots of power) it should be able to work with electric UFH?

Thanks, I think that's the issue - I think I saw on a thread that the Tado 'stats have a 3A limit, which means they can't switch the heating element on and off directly. I don't believe we have relays or contactors in our systems. Given that we have WarmUp thermostats running these I thought perhaps other vendors' integrated systems may have as well.

On that note, thanks alangla - I'll look into the Wiser system.

It would be trivial to fit contactors if you wanted the Tado system. Many other systems may also need a contactor/relay, it's just not very common to have electric UFH in the UK.

Thanks for all the input. I've gone for the Tado V3+ system, so far I have everything except the three electric underfloor heating zones controlled by it. I may revisit the electric UFH in the garden room later and use a contactor as suggested. So far very happy with the Tado setup.
