I live in a terraced house with a driveway, and I wanted to get into working on my car or start a project car at some point. I would have liked to have an actual garage to store my car and work on it in but unfortunately my house doesn't have one and at the back of my house is just more houses, so there's no access there either.

I have the driveway in front of my house of course but I don't know what the rules/laws are for building there besides asking for planning permission as the pavement and then the road is directly in front of the driveway.

Is there any chance of building a garage in front of my house here or what would be the alternative if I wanted to have somewhere to work on my car or start working on a project car at some point?

I have a satellite image with some specifics about my property but can't post as I'm a new user. The driveway is about 5.5mx6m give or take but if I take into account the small patch of lawn to the side and the ground in front of the house that is about a foot lower than the driveway it'd be closer to 6.5mx7m I think, though I'd need to measure exactly to make sure.

Happy Jim

I figured as much. I was never a car guy so just having a driveway was enough for me. I have a massive back garden which would have been perfect to install a garage in for my car but as I said, the back of my house is connected to a bunch of other houses so there's no access.

Maybe I need to do a Colin Furze and build a secret garage underneath my driveway Thunderbirds style

Either that or install a crane that can lift your car over the house...

If you bought a mobile crane and parked it on your drive you wouldn't need planning permission... silly

Hard to tell without an image, but from what you describe, id say its almost certainly a no,
