Anyone else looking at quartz a mind field? I’ve been trying to look for quartz and am feeling overwhelmed. Have you ordered any quartz worktops recently and would recommend a company? I’m based in West Yorkshire if that’s helpful.

It's a learning curb, no need to be so pacific and put it on a pedal stool.

Very good! I guess the curb is made of quartz...

It’s soul destroying finding quartz that’s exactly what you want - or at least what you want and in budget!

We recently went with Aktiv Granite in Harrogate and would certainly recommend them for the fitting. The quartz itself is from Fugenstone who have a warehouse/showroom in Sheffield that we visited and have plenty of styles to choose from. Again, we’re very happy with the quartz.

Bear in mind the material is cheap. The money is the templating , cutting , fitting and delivery.

You can buy slabs for raw material for not a lot.

It's hard to tell from a sample in store, we ended up going to a couple of yards to view the full slabs

Have you looked at Al-Murad? https://al-muradgranite.co.uk

I think they do quartz although perhaps not the biggest range. They were good value for our granite, and fairly local to you.

When we had our kitchen fitted my wife went to these people

https://www.mbpltd.co.uk

We are in Scotland and they delivered and sorted out an issue we had without issue.

They are a lot closer to you!

We used these guys on the recommendation of the kitchen fitter.

It wasn’t online though, they came and made templates and obviously had to see the actual products.

Define 'cheap'? The manufacturing of the virgin slab is fairly labour intensive by modern standards and still involves a fair amount of manual input with veining, surface preparation and quality control. Shipping costs are also extremely high given the weight.

Not that it matters either way. It is not a DIYable task to then machine a worktop to the standard that most would accept and so there is little option other than to purchase retail.

It’s a Purevision PVR and is, honestly, st.

Looks good when it’s going but the glass is crazed and wrecked, it’s not that easy to light, it’s a bd to keep burning (hard wood is a nightmare) and it pours out smoke and ash whenever you open the door to reload due to the huge size of the door. The fancy door mechanism connected to the baffles is stiff to operate and means every couple of months you have to rotate the whole stove back into its original position because it rotates a fraction every time you close the door!

It’s a triumph of form over function and I hate it. Go with one of the Swedish brands that look the same but are actually designed properly.

Given the OP's comments about the woodburner, we have an earlier model (similar to the ILD 7 ECO) and are very happy with it. But it looks as if they don't have UK distributors now...... https://www.ildstoves.com/vare-vedovner

Affordable Granite and marble co bear Bakewell Derbyshire, would think they'd cover West Yorkshire for template and fitting. Used them previously and spot-on

I'd say it's an eggcorn rather than a malapropism.
