Hi All

I have this controller mounted on my boiler, in my tenanted house, it's been in 2 years, though recently started playing up.

It's been cold recently and tenant wanted just some more heat. I looked at it and sits at 12.9c, but if you raise the C it's displayed the 'over' message. Though when I left it stated 17.1c.

I've followed the instructions and got the rads back on hot somehow, but the module doesn't seem to follow the instructions .

The figure displayed on the display, is that the set temperature or the actual room temperature. The module seems to be complicated I'm thinking of just have it removed and using the controls on the boiler itself, the tenant seems to be ok with this.

Anyone had experience of these?

Looking at what I think is the closest looking model to yours:

Your thermostat controller works in either an Auto (daily cycle) or manual mode.

The first image is you putting the thermostat into override mode whilst running in Auto. You are setting the desired temperature you want to override the pre-programmed temperature set for this current day / time cycle.

The second image is displaying the current detected temperature in the room, running in Auto (daily cycle) mode but the heating is being called, presumably thanks to the override.

When the set end time of the current cycle is reached, the programmer will go back to following your programmed cycle for desired times and temperature.

So if you have your Auto (daily cycle) temperature programmes set to 12 degrees C, it will always follow that until you use the override. If the tenant wants more heat then you will need to adjust your daily programmes to set the target temperatures higher. Otherwise, you're just giving them a temporary boost for the next few hours.

The example in the manual for 5/2 day cycle has a morning temperature of 21C as it assumes people get up to go out to work. Then sets to 10 C for the day until the rush hour of 17:30 when it assumes people come home from work and want to be warm in the evening. When they go to bed at 22:00, it runs at 10C overnight.

One last thing, the displayed day / month seems to indicate it thinks it is Tuesday the 22nd of November. So if it's following a 5/2 weekday / weekend cycle, it will be all over the place and running the programme for the wrong day of the week.
