A project in need of completion! Been quite a long time in progress so really looking forward to getting some use out of it this spring, summer and beyond.

For the wood fired oven I need to build a landing shelf at the front the same level as the floor of the oven. Undecided on what the 'base' should be, light block work or possibly a concrete pour, and then finish it with some tiles. There's quite a bit of porcelain tile from the floor and path that I could use though they are 20mm and I'd need to cut them and preferably mitre the joins to get a close finish - did this with the step to the garden room. Perhaps a thinner tile would be better?

Then there is how to finish the sides and back behind the shelf?! Bring it up to same level as landing shelf or have a drop and tile finish though again cutting those large tiles to match the curve of the oven will be a challenge.

The WFO has a rendered finish, it is ok and I could put another sealer on it and paint it white but I'm considering a mosaic tile. Made a bit of an error using building sand, later I used a plastering sand to pour the concrete counter tops and this material might have been better. That's why a have a concern for leaving it as is really. Potentially the current finished surface could be 'scratched up' and render over another stronger and tighter finish.

Lastly the storage openings. I think these will be wooden doors though they will have to be made. None of the openings are standard to my knowledge as I did not consider this when it was made. Lesson learnt! I suspect these openings will need to be squared up a little bit with shims and then some doors made up. Likely to need some expertise for this part. For the eagle eyed two openings do not have a top finish under the counter, the others have a lintel that has been rendered over. Quite why I chose to not put any there is a pain point every time I look at it! Against the better judgement of the brickie who did the blockwork for me in fairness to him. Will have to make a false front for those and render it to match somehow(?).

Any thoughts welcome. I've often perused the work and projects in the pages here and enjoyed seeing things take shape, hope you've enjoyed this as well. Thanks
